Back and forth, up and down, round and round we go. I just got back to the house with the kids to stay a couple days. We ended up getting a room at the Ronald McDonald house and we haven't had access to internet anywhere. Ari is doing well the last couple days. It was a hard decision on the botox. Dr Spierre approached us when we first arrived at Brooks about it, and Sarah and I kinda told her it wasn't going to happen. But as we watched Ari turn into a stiff board because her brain is telling her muscles to stay contracted all the time, we started to look into other things. We wanted her off the valium because of its effects on the brain and brain recovery for sure. So we had no way to get her muscles to loosen up without more drugs. So Thursday I brought the subject up with Dr Spierre again, and after many questions and talking to all the nurses and therapists there, along with watching patients go out the door better than they came in, I asked Sarah to think about it. By Friday evening the Dr had given her the shots. They are very small amounts applied only to the muscles and are not known to travel throughout the body. The risks are very small, and compared to the enormous obstacle we are facing with repairing her brain, her muscles will have to wait. She has been much more relaxed, and is becoming more so everyday. She has been sleeping much better, which I'm sure will help with her therapies. The doctor did a culture on her stools and urine again at the request of Dad Thursday morning. They came back negative, which left me feeling a little hopeless as to the causes of her intestinal problems. So I took the perogative of changing her eating schedule. I also introduced Apple juice with each feeding as part of her schedule. She has not been vomiting since, with the exception of yesterday when she tried coughing and choked on it. But she has not vomited like she was since her apple juice addition. Today we added a second drink called Mona Vie. We are adding anything natural at this time that we can because side effects are so few. She is doing so much better and sleeping so much better. Not sure how the doctors will like me, but it's better than more drugs. Update a little more in an hour or two... love to all
