Ari had her EEG test done yesterday and Dr. Barr had time to read the test and give us the results. He said that she is still having a lot of seizure activity; during the test she had a few different types that were generalized to one part of the brain, which did not seem to concern him. She also had what they call Lennox Gastaut which covers the whole brain at once. I am going to give you the description that they gave us and warn you that it sounds awful. Lennox Gastaut This is one of the most severe and refractory forms of childhood epilepsy Peak age of onset is usually 3 to 5 years It includes seizures of multiple types including myoclonic, absence; tonic-clonic, and/or atonic (drop attacks) Usually seen with a history of infantile spasms, developmental delay and/or mental retardation Approximately 60% have an identifiable cause such as tuberous sclerosis, perinatal disturbances, and postnatal brain injuries It is very difficult to control with medications Now with that very unhopeful information they gave us I would like to add that we have not seen any outward signs of what we were told seizures. So it seems that the medication she is on is controlling her seizures. They explained to us that you can never control the seizure activity inside the brain, you can only control the outwardly signs of seizures. We continue to stand strong in our faith that God is in control and he will heal her in his own time and ask that everyone continue to have faith in this with us and pray for total restoration healing.
