Ari had a busy day today. She had several tests as I told you she would. She had to skip a couple therapies, but it is worth it. She had a decent day with the whole stomach and intestine thing. The m of m seems to be helping her keep things moving. She didn’t vomit at all today. What a relief that is. We seem to see a correlation between her being constipated and everything else as we thought we might. If tomorrow goes the same, we may have found the answer. We took her over to the other hospital at noon to get the x-ray of her abdomen. We probably won’t get those results back until tomorrow. She also had the EEG today. That started at 3 and didn’t end until 9pm. It was a videotaped test along with all the wires stuck all over her head. The highlight of our day was during her EEG. She had this one particular wire that was taped under her left eye. She did not like that thing at all. After fussing over that thing and screaming at it for a while, she finally decided to try and get it off. She moved her hand up there and managed to scrape the tape off. Well of course we had to put it back on. She was so ticked off at that thing. So she screamed and fussed at it and scraped it off again. We did this several times, and she actually focused on that thing more and more. She would put her hand over it and just hold it there, just straining to get her hand to open up and grab it. She knocked that little wire and tape off her face several times. That is the type of thing we are looking for… Movement, and attitude, with purpose. We don’t actually like to see her upset like that usually. But we noticed that she really seems to respond more to things that tick her off. Just like when she garbled out that angry sentence at her mother over that shower. Maybe we are developing a new rehab program. We could call it Ticked Off Therapy. What’s the one about a woman scorned? How about a ticked off mermaid…..? Our nurse tonight said she was going to nickname Ari Banana, because the EEG screen said banana under the type of EEG. It might fit too, since she wasn’t really going banana’s for that whole test.
