What an amazing day, especially this afternoon. When I got to the hospital this morning Sarah was cleaning Ari up as she had upchucked again. She just looked so miserable and sad. Her legs were tight as could be and I couldn't get the tone to massage out of her left foot. So she went to speech, which was kinda nothing because she was so sleepy. Sleeping during her therapies has become a problem, and they are working on schedules to help with that. Her skin was pale and you could tell she was just not feeling good. PT and OT were the same, and Sarah and I looked at each at one point and said it was almost like she had regressed a whole weeks worth of progress. But that didn't last. Somewhere this afternoon she just kinda flipped a switch, and just changed. She was following everyone with her eyes, even turning her head a bit. I had her sitting in my lap, sitting up like she would in a chair with her head resting against my chest, and she lifted her head off my chest for a good little bit and held it up herself. She became very vocal this afternoon, and when Sarah and I went downstairs to get some dinner and came back up, Ari was making a loud noise, like she was hollering for us. We both got right in her face and told her we were still their and hugged and kissed her, and she stopped the crying noise immediately. And I just talked to Sarah a minute ago and she said she picked Ari up and her lips just went to moving and she started making new sounds that sounded exactly like her voice instead of the whimpering cries. Sarah said she half expected some kinda word to come out of there. Both her casts will be staying on until Monday or Tuesday, and they may re-cast her for a few days after that to be sure they have got the spasticity under control. Splints work well, but they took them this evening to do a few more adjustments. The doctor and nutritionist changed her feeding schedule to try and cure the upchuck problem and curb some of her desire to sleep through therapies, which are generally right after she eats. And I beleive that this afternoon was the beginning of Ari getting over that UTI, and she is going to have a very positive track of progress from here on out as long as we can keep all the problems off her that usually hit people that are stuck in bed all day. This hospital is on top of things in almost everyway. The people here are so positive and supportive, and their is never a negative word. They listen to all your concerns, explain and teach everything they are doing, and really treat Ari as if she were their daughter. We read your messages everyday, and we thank you. We draw strength from you and your prayers, and we continue to praise our Father God for everyone he has connected us to. We are not always strong, but your love and messages and prayers lift us up.
