Hello all, Ari had a good week a Shriners. She is getting PT, OT, and much needed speech. She has not had any speech therapy since we left Brooks in June, so we are excited about that therapy. Shriners is wonderful. Every one there is so nice and they really have alot for the children to do to try and make their stay there fun.Through all the donations they get they are able to offer their services free of charge including all meals for parents and everything they give the kids while there. She impressed her speech therpist. Ari was able to drink quite a bit of juice through a syringe, as long as it was put in her cheek she was able to get the suck pattern like an infant does. They are going to try and get her ready to drink from a special cup instead of a bottle. She also was able to suck and lick some baby food off the spoon when put in her mouth just infront of her teeth. Ari still has alot of hyper input when you touch her lips and the front of her mouth, so they are also working on toning that input down so that eating does'nt stress her out so much. In PT they are putting her in a stander mostly. They are going to be ordering her a new stander so they are trying different ones to find ther perfect fit for her and one that she will have growning room with. The stander she has does not support her upper back like she needs. So soon I will be able to put her in a new one and not have to try to support her and she can work her upper strength more. They made Ari new feet splints and gave her a new pair of shoes that are made to wear with spints, so no more fighting her shoes on. During OT they are doing alot of tummy time, and having her lift her her head and shoulders up to play with toys. They do alot of playing. They played dress up with her having her touch differnet types of bead necklaces before they put them on her, she also got to put some lipstick on, which was also working on the imput in her lips. They gave Ari some hand splints to wear at night while she is sleeping to try and open her hands more,so far she has not wiggled her hands out of them like she did with all the other spints she has had, and also some new ones for the daytime. I took a few pics while we were there. They had a camel on Friday for the kids to feed and pet and some clowns. I dont think she liked the camel so much he tried to nibble on her foot after she feed him the carrot. We will be going back early Monday morning for another week. I don't have internet access there so if Bernie doesn't get a chance to update I will when we get back next weekend. We love you all and thank you for your continued prayers
