Home at last! Yesterday's release day was quite a long day. We didn't get in until late, but yes, Arianna and Mom are home. For now... The last week has been very taxing on our patience and hope. While I was down here trying to get things ready, Arianna reverted for a few days on her vomiting and GI issues. These are two things that are going to continue to be issues for quite some time. By the time I got back up there Tuesday to help bring her home, Sarah was sick with a cold and hadn't been sleeping well for days. The stress of doubting whether or not Ari was ready was eating her up, and not everything was ready for her to come home. So Tuesday as soon as I got there we changed Ari's feed from Pediasure to one called Elecare, which is made for most of the symptons Ari has with her feedings. We went to a meeting with dr Murray, the Hyperbaric oxygen chamber guy. Then Sarah went with her mom to get some much needed sleep, but didn't because she was up sick almost all night. I stayed with Ari and kept getting up all night to check Ari's residual in her stomach since the new feed was a trial and we only had that night to see if it helped before we came home. It did, and we got a prescription for that. Yesterday was full of.... meet with everyone, get all the prescriptions filled before we left, get feeding pump, fill out paperwork, and wait on wheelchair. We had quite a fuss over the wheelchair for weeks, and were going to leave without it, but Shari, the case manager was able to get it before we left. But instead of leaving by 11am, we had to wait on the wheelchair until almost 6pm. We stopped at Dr Murray's office on the way out so he could put a face to the name and do a quicky examination. He seems very positive about what the HBOT will do for her. Sarah and I are trying to figure out a way to schedule the next month or so for Ari to get her HBOT and her therapies up there, while maintaining everything else. We feel very strongly that the HBOT is the only thing that has been presented to us for treating the actual problem and not the symptoms alone, problem being Hypoxic brain damage. Dr Murray does have a website if anyone wants... www.floridahyperbaricoxygen.com. Dr Prudencio at Brooks did give us a bunch of info on HBOT, and it was very helpful. We aren't sure if she approves of it or not, although probably not, but based on her info and Dr Murrays, we feel it is worth a shot. The trip home was a challenge I won't go into right now. But we got home around midnight, and Ari is doing well this morning after finally falling asleep about 4 am. Our house is open today and this weekend if anyone wants to see beautiful Ari. We are so happy just to be back together at home, even if only for a short time. We ask only that if you or anyone close to you has been sick that you wear a mask. Call if you have any questions or just want to call you can call 863 385 8502 or my cell 863 381 0084. Love to all, and I may post more later
