Another fundraising idea from Easy Fundraising Ideas

Monday, December 10, 2007

Sarah and I have been doing some research on near drowning and other brain injury children recently. There are so many out there, and some of those folks have set up some good pages to connect to others through, such as the Carepages, Hugs Foundation, Hugs4ndc and PONDS (Parents of Near Drowns. We've noticed throughout all their pages a common theme.. fundraising. So since we have had some problems lately funding Arianna's treatments that she so desparately needs for her recovery, we are going to ask for your help with one idea we've seen out there. Sarah has sent away for and received some materials from a company that will print cookbooks to be sold for a fundraising effort. So we would like to ask for your help. We would like to have as many recipes as we can by Jan 1, 2008. That would allow us some time to put it all together before we submit it to the publishers. We are hoping that with the holiday season here, maybe some folks were poking around in there family or favorite recipes and ran across some they would like to submit to help Arianna. (I know Sarah will be adding her family cornbread recipe, which will be reason enough for people to buy the book!) But anything from cakes, pies, breads, to meats, salads, fruits, gravy, etc. If you would like to help us with this please email to timm.family@hotmail.com or just click on the link on the carepages. Arianna is doing well. We were actually both away from her for the first time Saturday night while we went to a Christmas party. She stayed with her Grandma, and of course she was fine. Grandma was excited... Arianna roled over on her side in the night. Proof that she is continuing to recover. But we are beginning to see some regression in her tone a little on the left side. For now it is periodic, but we need to try and get her back to IMT and more HBOT soon. If we can get this fundraiser going, maybe 2008 will have fewer gaps in her treatments. This season is busy, and trying to get into the new house has been stressing. We have waited to do any Christmas decorating for fear of having to take it back down soon, but if we don't have a final answer by Friday it will be time to put the tree up. We have not had a final approval yet from the mortgage lender, but we are praying to get one in the next couple days. The underwriters threw us a curveball last week when they wanted an up-to-date p&l for 2007. We panicked at first because of course none of the business's bookkeeping was up to date with the year we have had. But Sarah went into git-r-done mode, and pulled it off in 2 days. So all info is submitted now, and we just wait for the all clear. We are patiently praying...(ok, not so patiently). By the way, I wanted to mention it because so many times it has come up lately. Something new to Arianna's diet is the liquid form of a mushroom from Siberia. We actually added it to all of our diets to try and keep the kids from getting the nasty cold that has been going around and bringing it back to Ari. To date we have all been on it about 2 months, and none of us have gotten sick. If you want to get some info about it, e-mail Sarah at the address above. It is not cheap, but its cheaper than medicine and missed days at work or school along with doctors visits. Love to all... if we hear anything on the house we'll update you.
